Pelican

I went to the zoo with my daughter at the start of the year and took lots of photos. I feel sorry for the animals being in captivity, but it is a wonderful place to observe them. This pelican is one of the inhabitants. The picture is in indian ink on 300gsm of water color paper.

This is now the new improved picture of the pelican. As suggested by Wendi, I have dsarkened the area behind the pelican so the pelican stands out from the background a bit.

Yeah the zoos are both sad and nice hey. Its so wonderful to be able to see animals, so sad that they have to be confined.
I like your pelly! Did you use the ink as a wash?

What a wonderful pelican. I love pelicans. Kay- I'm wanting to put my 2 cents worth in. ignore me if you like, but, could you put in some darker darks?? I know there is graduation in colour, but i think if it was a tad darker in some areas, your pelican may stand out more.
I cant explain what I mean, but, its like i'm looking at that scene at dusk, I want some definition somewhere. ?????? do you know what I am saying???

Hi Jade, I used indian ink felt tip pen.

Hi Wendi, thanks for your advise as you know I revisted the picture and darkened the background.
